Hi everyone!
As always I have a very busy and exciting year ahead of me! I am so excited about fulfilling some of the project shoots I have been planning this year as well! I have a variety of different concepts which require different models and I am happy to meet new aspiring models as well. :-)
A great model must have certain qualities that will be the difference between a beautiful photo and an extraordinary beautiful photo. Here are some of the qualities you MUST have to apply for my casting calls:
1. Beauty is essential to being a model, but it runs more than skin deep. You must have confidence, poise and a beautiful temperament and good attitude as well.
2. You must WANT to be photographed. I myself hate being photographed and am not necessarily photogenic. It is important that you enjoy being photographed and that you are excited & confident to get in front of the camera
3. You must be willing to get creative and step outside of the box. Try new and unique poses, and know how to move your body & face in a way that is flattering to you. Practicing in front of a mirror will help greatly with this! Standing there and looking pretty is just not going to bring forth the type of extraordinary image I am looking for.
4. You must be a professional and treat the photographer with respect and professionalism as well.
5. You must be willing to brave the conditions: What I mean by this; have you ever watched America’s Top Model? Models are put in uncomfortable conditions all of the time and must learn to work well through any circumstance. This means braving the Saskatchewan winter weather with grace and ease, holding a difficult pose and making it look easy and flawless, and exuding confidence in the dingiest or most undesirable of locations.
6. You must WANT to be published! You must be willing to sign a model release form that allows me to distribute your images for publishing. You must want your image to be seen by the world and the world to see YOU.
7. You MUST have good posture. I shouldn’t need to constantly correct someone on the importance of standing straight, shoulders back, tummy tucked in. Good posture can make or break a photograph, and it also takes off the ten pounds that the camera adds.
8. You must be a good actress/actor. A big part of concept photography for me, is not just portraying an image, it’s about telling a story, showing an emotion, leaving viewers with an intrigue … wanting to know more.
9. You must be healthy!! I am not looking to photograph anorexic models. Whether you are voluptuous & shapely or slender & petite, healthiness SHOWS in your photographs. A person who takes good care of themselves will have healthy skin, healthy hair and a healthy body confidence.
10. You must know how to smile, naturally! A smile can take 5 years off of a person’s age easy. A GENUINE natural smile, can take up to 15 years off of your age. So have fun, and learn how to genuinely smile, let yourself laugh and be yourself.
**** I WILL BE POSTING CASTING CALLS IN THE NEXT COUPLE OF DAYS. MODELS OF ALL AGES INCLUDING CHILD MODELS ARE NEEDED FOR CONCEPT PHOTOGRAPHY SESSIONS. ALL MODELS WILL RECEIVE A DVD WITH ALL OF THEIR PHOTOS IN HIGH RESOLUTION FOR THEIR PORTFOLIO USE******

Hi everyone!
I hope you all have had a wonderful Christmas and New Years! As always I am keeping busy with editing and now getting ready for a Destination Wedding at the end of this month! I am so excited :)
I have a friendly reminder to my clients about texting. If you had a problem with your car and needed to bring it in to get worked on, would you “text” the shop? NO. I love hearing from my clients and as always I receive a high volume of e-mails, Facebook messages, and phone calls daily, and now….TEXTS too. I have to say I really don’t appreciate this. Texting is not something you can do with any sort of professionalism, and it also invades my every day privacy because it is following me wherever I go. Not to mention people tend to get offended if you do not respond to a text “right away”. I have to remind everyone that I do have a life, it is not attached to my phone or the computer, I have three children and I also want to remain as professional as possible. Texting is not something that I ever thought I would have to deal with from clients. Do you really expect me to sit there and type on my phone an entire message about my wedding photography services? Texting is time consuming and should only be used in instances where you have a quick message like for example; you are on your way to a session with me and running a few minutes late, you are coming to pick up a disc or drop off a contract and I ask you to text me when you are on your way, etc. Furthermore what takes possibly hours to accomplish a conversation over text, can be said in minutes with a phone call or an e-mail. So I ask that my clients send me Facebook messages, e-mails and phone calls instead of texts. Please respect that I have a life too and it should not be dedicated to being glued to my cell phone…
I really appreciate your understanding and I look forward to hearing from you!

Hope everyone had a fantastic Christmas!!
Wrapping up another year of stressed out brides, apathetic grooms and glorious weddings! Kidding, but seriously, it’s been a great year :-) I have had the pleasure of meeting so many amazing, & exciting people, as well as experiencing such an important day with them. I have had some touching, emotional moments with brides & mother of the bride, some hilarious and crazy moments, and some down right strange but wonderful memories.Thank you all for being awesome and choosing me to photograph your weddings and your memories.
I also wrapped up a few Ages and Stages packages with clients this year and I am thankful to have gotten to know these awesome families and watch their little ones grow from babies to getting into lots of trouble toddlers :-D It was so amazing to experience all of the milestones with my clients and capture them all! Getting to know these little people was truly so rewarding and I couldn’t have asked for more wonderful families and experiences with them! Wrapping up my last Ages and Stages this year almost brought tears to my eyes…from the little baby that pooped in a hat to a gorgeous little girl running, giggling, and curious about everything! It is these moments that make my job so rewarding at the end of the day and I couldn’t be more grateful to my clients for this!
So excited to get my updated website going, working with seriously amazing & talented friends on project shoots, and continually improving my business!
In 2012 I will be booking less regular photo sessions, especially during the summer months so I can spend more time with my family. I will have some really special opportunities for clients though and I look forward to sharing them with you all soon! I thank you all in advance for your understanding and I can’t wait to work with you all in the future for some exciting and wonderful photo sessions!
As I was saying, I have some new and exciting offers for my clients coming up so watch for more news on that :) I am also anxious to travel as I have two beautiful Destination Weddings in plan, and I am excited about refreshing my inspiration with some amazing people and locations! I would eventually like to specialize in Destination weddings, specifically in more unique locations such as Isreal, India, Bolivia, Ireland, etc.
I will be posting more information about special offers, promotions, & of course some new and exciting project shoots soon!
So excited for 2012 and I hope you are too!
xoxo
